What is Coaching?

Q: What is Coaching?

A: According to the International Coaching Federation, “Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

Coaches work with you to support you through the hurdles in your life or work that have you stuck, stagnant or languishing. This involves exploring where you currently are and how you’re showing up in the world; getting clear on how you want to “be” and what’s holding you back; and creating, and committing to, a plan that breaks you free to move your life forward.

Q: What is the difference between a Coach, Mentor and Consultant?

A: A consultant gives you expert advice and guidance, they will tell you what to do and how to do it. A mentor will have an abundance of experience, advice, and contacts to share with you. A coach is a trusted partner who will use compassion and candor to support you as you explore the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. In addition to asking questions that stimulate reflection, a coach is a learning partner, trained to listen on a deep level, illuminate insights, and challenge you to go beyond what you think is possible to bring your goals to fruition.

Q: When would I need a Coach?

A: A coach can help you find a path forward when you:

– want to clarify who you are as a leader and enhance your leadership abilities

– are planning career advancement or transitioning to a new role

– are facing significant challenges or opportunities and want to remove real or perceived barriers

– want to gain confidence and enhance your impact

– are unsure of your strengths and how to leverage them to create opportunities

– want to stop doubting yourself and break free from imposter syndrome

– want to improve individual or team performance

– and so much more!

Q: Who is Coaching for?

A: Coaching is about transformation. It’s an opportunity to gain awareness, build confidence and make life-enhancing changes that offer new possibilities and ways of being. If you are open-minded, invested in your growth, and excited to transform your life, coaching may be for you.

Q: What can I expect in a Coaching session?

A: Trying something new, seeking or accepting help, changing thoughts/beliefs/behaviours that are no longer serving you, can all be uncomfortable. However, coaching sessions are completely confidential and offer a safe space for you to explore and reflect.

In my coaching sessions, I an impartial partner. I listen to understand where you are now and the challenges you are encountering. Then, I ask questions to prompt reflection and self-discovery. By mirroring your own insights to reveal answers, I nudge you out of your comfort zone and partner with you to create a plan that aligns your actions with your goals.

Q: How can I benefit from Coaching?

A: The benefits are limitless for those who are open to awakening a new level of awareness of self and others.

By engaging in coaching with me, you will have space to explore, gain clarity and build confidence to make powerful, positive, and sustainable changes that propel you forward so that you can influence, innovate, and inspire to your fullest potential.
